Fort McMurray, Alberta – In a battle of Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference North Division teams it will be  University of Alberta Augustana Vikings (15-9) vs. Lakeland College Rustlers (17-7) at the 2018-2019 Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Women's Basketball Championships.


In four ACAC regular season encounters it was a split with Vikings winning 80-72 and 58-55 and the Rustlers 74-65 and 80-55.

Vikings having a hard time finding the hoop as the Rustlers look inside to score and score they do taking a 13-point lead. Vikings shot 2-of-18 while the Rustlers were 7-of-18. Jaden Cook and Hailey Somers  each have six points for the team from Lloydminster.

Rustlers running with good distribution of basketball. Centre Brianne Hergott hitting the boards for Lakeland. A three by Vikings Alexis Myschuk and a defensive stop at the other end spark the Camrose team, although they are still down 30-19 with 1:55 to go until halftime. Rustlers 13 points off turnovers. Vikings zip.


Third Period Vikings  40 Rustlers 47

A kind three point bounce for Vikings Torey Lauber brings them within striking rank 39-34. Lakeland timeout.

Vikings starting to run and feel the flow

Lauber free throws tie the game 40-40 with 2:20 in third.

But Lakeland goes on a 7-0 run to make it 47-40.

Back- to- back three pointers bring Vikings within four, down 50-46 halfway through period.

Back-to-back three pointers by Kaitlyn Tonita seal the win and bronze.

Vikings Player of the Game Samantha Dargis 13 points 7 rebounds.

Rustlers Player of the Game Kaitlyn Tonita 13 points 12 rebounds.
