John Dunbar Selected as 2015-16 ACAC Men’s Hockey Player of the Year
The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference is proud to announce the selection of John Dunbar, of the NAIT Ooks, as the 2015-16 ACAC Men's Hockey Player of the Year sponsored by Reebok/CCM Hockey.
This is the second year in a row that John has won this award. John, who hails from Calgary and is enrolled in NAIT's Business Administration program, won the ACAC scoring title again, tallying 26 goals and 31 assists for 57 points in 32 games.
This year, John led his NAIT Ooks men's team to an undefeated 32-0 regular season record. The Ooks won 30 of these games in regulation and the two games that went into overtime, John scored both game winning goals.
John brings a level of maturity to the Ooks, having previously played in Quinnipiac University and then professionally in Pensacola and Ft. Wayne. As a junior, John played in the AJHL with the Calgary Canucks and the Ft. McMurray Oil Barons.
"We are very excited and would like to congratulate John for his award. I have watched John grow and develop on and off the ice over the last two years and am extremely proud of him. He is an exceptionally hard worker and competes at a very high level day after day. His work ethic and execution in practice are the reasons for his continued success." – Head Coach Mike Gabinet.
