Fall 2023 ACAC Make Some Noise for Mental Health Campaign Champions

Edmonton, AB (December 12, 2023) - The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference would like to thank all of their members who participated in the ninth annual Make Some Noise for Mental Health campaign. Presented by RBC, this year's fall initiative showcased inspiring dedication from our members. ACAC members organized MSN-dedicated game day events, leveraged social media for mental health awareness, and worked tirelessly to dismantle stigma surrounding mental health on campus and in your communities.

As the MSN campaign wrapped up, the messaging felt solid and established. There appears to be an increase in the willingness of student-athletes to share their experiences on camera, candidly discussing the challenges of mental health. The campaign continues to have a positive impact by actively destigmatizing mental health, and providing athletes with a platform to express their true feelings.

MSN | The NAIT Ooks Grab Second Place and $1000 Cheque!
The NAIT Ooks distinguished themselves with a dynamic and comprehensive approach to the MSN campaign. Their two-phase strategy, including collaboration with NAIT's mental health department and community outreach students (OWLs), successfully attracted 50-100 students per session, creating awareness of mental health resources. The "Neon at NAIT" game days facilitated extensive dialogue about mental health, contributing to increased athlete openness and unity. Their innovative initiatives make them deserving recipients of the cash prize.

Red Deer Polytechnic's submission demonstrated a comprehensive initiative focused on promoting positive mental health through diverse on-campus events, game days, and impactful social media. Over the entire six-week campaign, they organized various events, engaged the student body, and collaborated with departments and community groups. Their standout campaign, marked by an unwavering commitment, community engagement, and impactful social media presence, positions them as deserving MSN Champions. Additionally, they plan to donate the cash prize to the Students’ Association Food Bank, showcasing their commitment to community impact.
