A rainy and cold forecast turned into a brilliant sunny afternoon for the Wolves Home Opener. A few hundred people were in attendance to watch the Wolves take on Kings University Eagles. The Wolves got off to a quick 2 goal lead with Sydney Kelly and Danja Fredickson finding the back of the net at the 17thmin and 21stmin of the first half. Kings were quick to respond at the 22ndmin with a goal from Gabby Rocque and 6 minutes after Kings would tie it at 2 with a goal from Kayleigh Maskell. The first half ended dead locked at 2-2. Half way through the second half Kings scored 2 goals close together, both scored by Kings first year striker, Gabby Rocque. GPRC would go onto score, late in the 2nd half, by Sydney Kelly, a 1st striker from Vanderhoof, BC. Syndey would pick up her second goal of the game. As time ticked away, the Wolves ran out of time to score the tieing goal. Player of the Game would be awarded to GPRC #2 Kaitlin Buziak, a 1st year defender out of Fort St. John, BC. From KINGS University the well deserving 3 goal scorer, Gabby Rocque, would be awarded the recognition. Both squads are back at Pomeory Field tomorrow at 12pm to finish off the weekend series.
