Clippers charge into Championship Final

For the first time since 2011, the Briercrest College Clippers are headed to the Championship game in Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Men's Volleyball.

The Clippers got there thanks to a four-set win (25-18, 21-25, 25-17, 25-15) against the NAIT Ooks Friday at the Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre in Fort McMurray, Alta.

"It's a crazy moment," said Clippers Head Coach Nigel Mullan. "We've talked and worked throughout the season, just learning lessons. Whether you're winning or losing, you want to learn. We wanted to peak at the right time.

"For our guys to understand their role, today I thought they did such a great job of being in the moment."

Karym Coleman led the Clippers with 22 kills. Jeremy Martens added 27 assists and a team-leading eight digs in the victory as the program surpassed a long-wanted goal.

"It means everything to our team," Martens said. "This is what we've built the whole year towards."

Felix Dufour and Shae McIntyre tied for the team lead on the Ooks with eight kills each. Carter Hills had the team lead in digs at five with three other teammates sitting at four each. Karter Godin added 31 assists on the day.

Ross Bishop of the Ooks and Martens of the Clippers were named as the Players of the Game for their respective sides.
