Badminton Battlegrounds: Unveiling the Thrilling Tournament and Championship Schedule
EDMONTON, AB - Anticipation rises as the 2023-2024 ACAC Badminton tournament schedule is now appointed. The upcoming season brings excitement and high stakes as the NAIT Ooks eagerly prepare to host the 2024 ACAC Badminton Championships. Athletes from various institutions will embark on a journey of three crucial tournaments throughout the season, all culminating in the pinnacle of their ACAC campaign - the championships held at the Ooks gym. Get ready for a display of skill, determination, and fierce competition as badminton enthusiasts gear up for an unforgettable season.
ACAC CHAMPIONSHIP:
Mark your calendars for an action-packed two-day event on February 17th & 18th, as the championship unfolds at the NAIT main gym. Athletes and teams are gearing up to showcase their skills in men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles, and mixed doubles competitions. With a strong showing at last year’s CCAA National Championship, the ACAC's badminton excellence promises to deliver top-tier performances in our province's gripping championship. Get ready for a display of badminton greatness as players vie for the coveted title.
2022 RECAP:
In a remarkable display of badminton prowess, last year's ACAC Badminton Championships saw the Concordia Thunder women’s singles players, Johnna Rymes and Jasleen Kaur, dominate the courts with a first and second-place finish, respectively.
Narayan Ramdhani showcased his skills in the men’s singles events, claiming a well-deserved gold medal.
The King’s Eagles, Abby Ledda and Cecilia Wolski, asserted their control in the women’s doubles, earning a gold medal.
In an intense battle for the men’s doubles, the SAIT Trojans' Sanskar Chopra and Jason Chiu narrowly secured the first-place spot over the King’s Eagles' Emmanuel Duguay and Anthony Olson.
The Mixed Doubles event provided a stirring conclusion to the tournament, with NAIT Ooks players Davis Wong and Ivy Ung ultimately taking home the gold after a closely fought match against Thunder players Jonathan Su and Jasleen Kaur.
Individual CCAA achievements were also recognized, with Narayan Ramdhani of The King’s Eagles named the Men’s Player of the Year and Johnna Rymes of the Concordia Thunder earning a silver medal in the women’s singles event.
Additionally, Abby Ledda & Cecilia Wolski of The King’s Eagles, along with Sylvie Bibeau and Noel Do of the NAIT Ooks, were celebrated with silver and bronze medals, respectively, in women’s doubles.
Jasleen Kaur and Jonathan Su of the Concordia Thunder secured a bronze medal in mixed doubles.
Both Johnna Rymes of the Concordia Thunder and Narayan Ramdhan of The King’s Eagles were also recognized as CCAA All-Canadians for their outstanding performances.

CCAA CHAMPIONSHIP:
The 2024 CCAA Badminton National Championship will be hosted by Seneca College Sting. The Sting resides in Toronto, Ontario. The tournament will take place from February 28 - March 2, 2024. Athletes from across the country will gather for this electrifying showcase of technique and competitive spirit.
LOOKING AHEAD:
The 2023-2024 ACAC Badminton season kicks off with an exciting first tournament on November 19th at the Ralph King Athletic Gym, hosted by the experienced Concordia Thunder, who held last year's championship. Anticipate a remarkable display of artistry and competition as the Thunder set the stage for an exceptional opening tournament. In the new year, the SAIT Trojans will take the reins and host the second tournament on January 21st in Calgary, promising another thrilling competition. The season concludes with the final tournament, as teams return to the north and the King's Eagles close out the regular season with a flourish.
