Anne McClelland Honoured as 2021-22 Women's Soccer North Rookie of the Year
OCTOBER 28 – The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Anne McClelland of Concordia University of Edmonton has been selected as the 2021-22 ACAC Women's Soccer North Rookie of the Year.
Starting in all six regular season games for Concordia, McClelland's strong play helped the Thunder back line concede only six goals, tied for second best in the ACAC, while picking up a clean sheet against Portage en route to a second place finish in the ACAC North Division. McClelland's strong play continued into the playoffs as she was a factor when the Thunder posting a shutout in the ACAC North Division semi-final.
Anne has been an excellent addition to the lineup and the future of the Thunder Women's Soccer program is looking promising. Interim Director of Athletics and Recreation, Nathaniel MacLellan added, "Anne has had an outstanding rookie season for the Thunder this year. From the first time she stepped on the pitch, she was a strong defensive presence that helped take the Thunder to the next level. We are very proud of Anne's accomplishments this season and are looking forward to seeing her develop as a student-athlete throughout her Thunder career."
In her first season at Concordia, McClelland is studying for her Bachelor of Science degree.
