Brett Njaa Honoured as 2016-17 ACAC Men’s Hockey Playoff MVP

EDMONTON, AB (March 24, 2017) – The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Brett Njaa of the MacEwan University Griffins has been selected as the 2017 ACAC Men's Hockey playoff MVP.

The second year Commerce student-athlete from Birch Hills, SK, scored the overtime-winning goal in not one, but two games of the men's hockey championship series, including his March 19 tally in the first overtime to secure MacEwan's first ACAC men's hockey title since 2004.

"He's an incredibly competitive person and over two years he's shown us that any time the game is important, he plays his best," said Griffins head coach Bram Stephen. "It shouldn't be surprising that he was the guy who scored the clutch goals, but it was. As far as clutch performances go, it's maybe the best I've ever been on a bench for."

Njaa has led the Griffins in scoring two-straight seasons after graduating from the Camrose Kodiaks of the Alberta Junior Hockey League. He netted three goals and six points in five playoff games for the Griffins this year.
