ACAC Honours Jim Loughlin as the 2016-17 Women’s South Coach of the Year

Edmonton, Alberta, October 27, 2016 – The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference is pleased to announce that Jim Loughlin, head coach of the Medicine Hat College Rattlers, has been selected by his ACAC coaching peers as the 2016-17 Women's South Soccer Coach of the Year. The award was presented to Jim at the ACAC Women's Soccer Championships October 27th in Edmonton.

Loughlin has been with the Rattlers for 12 years. "Jim is very deserving of this award, as he has led the Rattlers Women's soccer team to a terrific season and a first place finish in the south division.  Jim strongly believes in the total development of his student-athletes; in the classroom, on the playing surface and in the community; and works hard to assist in their growth.

The team looks to be peaking at just the right time, heading into playoffs on a strong winning streak; and we look forward to seeing what Jim and the team can accomplish in the Provincial Championships", commented Terry Ballard, Manager of Sport and Wellness at MHC.  This year Loughlin, along with assistant coach Cassandra Westerman, goalie coach Kelly Topp and manager Brian Abdy, put together one of MHC's strongest teams, winning the South Division championship with an 8-2-0 record. This season the Rattlers scored 25 goals while allowing just seven.  They finished the regular season on a six game winning streak.
