ACAC Honours Connor Brady as the 2016-17 Men’s North Soccer Coach of the Year

Medicine Hat, October 27, 2016 – The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference is pleased to announce that Connor Brady, head coach of the Keyano College Huskies, has been selected by his ACAC coaching peers as the 2016 North Coach of the Year. This award was presented to Connor at the ACAC Men's Soccer Championships October 27 in Medicine Hat.

In five short years Connor Brady has taken the Keyano Huskies men's soccer program to national prominence as this will be their third consecutive appearance at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) men's soccer championships. He guided the Huskies to the 2015 Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) provincial men's soccer title last year on home turf at Shell Place. In the sport of men's futsal (indoor soccer), Brady-coached squads have captured four consecutive ACAC gold medals. Brady has also earned personal accolades with various ACAC Soccer and Futsal Coach of the Year awards.

This year the Huskies men's soccer team concluded the ACAC men's 2016 regular season with an ACAC all-time record of most consecutive wins without a loss in (carry over) regular season play with 30 games. They lost their second last game of the season 1-0 to the host Concordia Thunder. The last time the Huskies had lost an ACAC regular season game, had been September 29, 2013 in a 2-0 score against the MacEwan University Griffins.

A graduate of Father Patrick Mercredi Community High School, where he was a two-sport athlete with soccer under cleat and volleyball under sneaker, Brady played post-secondary soccer for the Keyano Huskies for two seasons and another for current arch rival NAIT Ooks in Edmonton. "I learned my coaching skills from my dad who is a very technical guy and talented coach. I had the luxury growing up and learning from him and other quality coaches," said Brady, his father George Brady joining him this year as assistant coach. "It means a lot to have him here as he taught me everything I know about the game. We have a special opportunity to do something big for our community.  I think this will be my dad's last year of coaching soccer and it would be nice to go out with a national championship."
