Running Room Grand Prix Series Race #4 at St. Mary’s University

Calgary, AB (September 28, 2024) - St. Mary's University was alive with energy this past Saturday as it hosted Race #4 of the Running Room Grand Prix Series. With perfect weather and a vibrant crowd cheering on, the event boasted an incredible showcase of athleticism across two thrilling races.

 

 

 

Women's Race

The women's race kicked off at 12:00 PM, showcasing a massive field of 72 runners, including athletes from open, U Sports, and ACAC teams. Among the 52 ACAC competitors, it was Hannah Pilling from LPK who claimed the top spot, finishing the 6km course in an impressive time of 25:00. Just two seconds behind her was Maddie Scrimger from Medicine Hat College, finishing in 25:02. Rounding out the podium was Ashlee Walker from Concordia, securing third place.

In the team standings, the Lethbridge Polytechnic Kodiaks took first place with 37 points. Red Deer Polytechnic Queens followed closely in second with 43 points, while Concordia Thunder rounded out the top three with 62 points.

Men's Race

The men's race was even more exhilarating, featuring a record 100 competitors, including 57 from the ACAC. Starting at 1:00 PM, SAIT's Yahy Jama led the pack, crossing the finish line with an impressive time of 26:29. Moktar Said followed closely behind, finishing in 26:44 to take second place, while Nathan Woyessa rounded out the podium in third with a time of 26:51.

In the team competition, SAIT Polytechnic Trojans dominated with a low score of 20 points, claiming first place. Lethbridge Polytechnic Kodiaks took second with a score of 39, and NAIT Ooks narrowly edged out Red Deer College to secure the final podium spot with 64 points.
