ACAC Grand Prix #3

Calgary, AB - Saturday saw the ACAC cross country runners back in action for the ACAC Grand Prix #3 race being hosted by St. Mary's University. The women's 6km distance had 43 runners complete the race from ten different member institutions. As the athletes made their way three times around the course, the leaders solidified their positions. Makenna Fitzgerald from SAIT had a commanding lead from start to finish and took home the individual top finish with a time of 22:35, Reese Bendiksen of Augustana finished in second place with a time of 24:01 and Emma Derbyshire from Concordia finished in third with a time of 24:53

The team scores saw Concordia take top spot, with Augustana second, Red Deer Polytechnic third, St. Mary's University forth, Medicine Hat College fifth, and Grand Prairie sixth.

The Men's 8km race saw 54 competitors' complete four loops of the 2km course. After 2km, there was a strong lead pack with Leonard Chesoo from Concordia at the front. By the end of 4km, the Concordia runner had established his lead and did not look back finishing in first place with a time of 25:23. There was quite a battle for the next six spots with places 2-7 only being separated by 1:19. Sait's Yahye Jama took second with a finish of 26:41 and his fellow teammate Keiran Marchand took home third with a time of 27:05

The team scores saw SAIT take home top honors, Red Deer Polytechnic second, Lethbridge College third, Augusatana forth, Concordia fifth, Medicine Hat sixth, Grand Prairie seventh and St. Mary's University in eighth.
