Huskies sweep away Ooks to qualify for Women's Volleyball Championships

The Keyano Huskies Women's Volleyball team booked their spot at the 2023 ACAC Women's Volleyball Championships Presented by Elite Promo Marketing Saturday afternoon at the Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre, earning a straight-sets victory (25-22, 25-14, 25-10) against the visiting NAIT Ooks. 

The Ooks got the jump on the Huskies early, but the Huskies recovered to close out the first set. In the second set, it took the Huskies a few tries at set point to earn the decision, but they came through in the end. In the third set, the Huskies came out fully focused and captured the set with relative ease. 

Tyneille Neufeld had herself another strong performance on the hardcourt, picking up 15 kill and eight digs along with an ace. Megan Polant and Lauren Huntley finished next on the offensive side of the game with seven and six kills, respectively. 

Sofia Janzen continued to make her impact at the net, earning four blocks along with a pair of kills. Rebecca Maxwell picked up28 asssits and six digs in setting duties. 

Hannah Zurakowski collected nine kills to lead the Ooks while Haley Sowell led the team with 12 digs. Handling setter duties for the Ooks, Kate Dyck compiled 15 assists, also adding six digs. 

Dyck earned Player of the Game honours for the Ooks while Huntley collected the honours for the Huskies. 

The 2023 ACAC Women's Volleyball Championships Presented by Elite Promo Marketing will be hosted by the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens at the FAS GAS - ON THE RUN Performance Gymnasium from February 23-25, 2023.
