WVB| Kodiaks Drop 4th Straight Loss After Ambrose Lions Bounce Back After 1st Set Struggle

January 27, 2023- The Kodiaks took home court advantage to a new level with Jr. Sr. night bringing the energy with RBC's make some noise for mental health campaign as the Kodiaks looked to upset the south division leaders, the Ambrose University Lions with both teams looking to bounce back into the win column.

The Kodiaks started off the match with a free point after the Lions got a service error which was the determining factor for who would control the set as the Kodiaks only continued to grow their lead from there by putting the pressure on Ambrose who struggled to find a way to catch up as Kodiaks Jamie Brown and Mack Lewicki dominated the 1st set combing for 5 kills to thrust the Kodiaks to a 25-19 1st set victory.

The Kodiaks returned the favor to the Lions to start the 2nd set giving Ambrose the 1-up after a service error by the Kodiaks which became a mirror of the 1st set with the Lions holding a lead over the Kodiaks throughout the set as they lost their spark which caused them to fall behind with Ambrose #2 Taylor Hart taking advantage of the opportunity acquiring 3 kills to help tie the match back up at 1 set a piece after a 25-19 set victory.

The Ambrose Lions carried over their momentum from the 2nd set as they were able to keep pushing forward as they gained another early lead over the Kodiaks. Lethbridge was able to get their feet back underneath them and gain some ground on the Lions coming back to tie things late in the set but ultimately fell short after a late push by the Lions giving them a 2-1 lead after taking the 3rd set 25-21.

Ambrose continued to be strong in front of the net making it difficult for the Kodiaks to get anything through to catch up to Ambrose. Later in the Kodiaks were able to make up some ground to try and push the game to a 5th set, after coming within only a few points of the Lions, the Kodiaks just did not have enough juice left in the tank to generate enough power to get ahead which is where Ambrose was able to seal the deal and take the match 3 sets to 1 taking the 4th set 25-19.
