WVB| Kodiaks Slay the Briercrest Clippers as They Get Back in the Win Column Taking the 1st Match of their Weekend Series

The Kodiaks looked to get back in the win column as the Briercrest Clippers crossed borders and made the trek west for their 1st of 2 matches in their weekend series in Kodiak Country.

The Kodiaks were quick to jump ahead in the 1st set gaining a comfortable lead over the Clippers, but midway through the set, the Clippers started fighting back and quickly surpassed the Kodiaks and gained a nice lead of their own. Clippers middle blocker #12 Faith Buhler led the comeback in the set with 4 kills to push the Clippers to 25-15, taking the 1st set.

The Clippers had the momentum heading into the 2nd set and snagged an early lead on the Kodiaks before the midway point of the set when the Kodiaks were able to get their wheels turning and chase after the lead. #3 Jamie Brown led the way for the Kodiaks collecting 3 kills to give the Clippers a fight for the set before bouncing back and taking the set right to the wire before claiming the set 25-23 tying the match up at 1 set a piece.

The 3rd set was quite equal as both teams were unable to generate enough momentum to obtain a lead as the Clippers and Kodiaks kept going back and forth with each other for the majority of the set before the Kodiaks were able to find a bit of a groove to get them ahead which would end up being enough for the Kodiaks to stay ahead and take the 3rd set 25-22 giving Lethbridge the 2-1 lead in the match.

The Clippers weren't ready to give up so they came into the 4th set fighting to keep the game going and gained a strong lead on the Kodiaks until the tail end of the set when the Kodiaks tried to come back fighting to close this game out but fell short as the Clippers prevailed and pushed the match to a 5th and final set after taking the 4th set 25-20, tying the match back up.

Kodiaks Libero #10 Alyssa Pavka snagged 2 huge digs to start off the 5th set to give the Kodiaks the go-ahead before the Kodiaks continued to lead the set by a small margin while the Clippers looked for a way to get ahead. The Kodiaks were able to keep Briercrest back as they grabbed the last few crucial points to give the Kodiaks the victory taking the 5th set 15-11 and the match, 3-2.
