Clippers Victorious Against Trojans During Home-Opener
With the first point to SAIT Trojans the teams traded point for point, serve for serve. Trojans played with an excellent defence with solid blocking as they worked hard to keep their lead with quick kills. Briercrest Clippers brought good accuracy to the first set and well-aimed kills to tie up 19-19 before a series of three time outs for Trojans. Clippers fought hard to come back and win the first set at a close 25-21.
Coming out into the second set, Clippers gain 3 hanger points right off the mark and the Trojans responded quickly to tie it up. Clippers and Trojans brought great energy with a well-matched set. In the overall game there were four TOs, two for Trojans and two for Briercrest as they again trade three point leads. Trojans chases Briercrest past 25 points. Briercrest closes the set with 29- 27.
Trojans takes a four point lead in the opening of the third set and Clippers fight hard back to tie up with well-placed kills to catch up to an even 9-9. Trading point for point, Trojans and Clippers fight it out in an exciting long volley where the Clippers won the point with a solid block by #8 at 21-17. After a TO for the Clippers, they have a run of points to win at 25- 20.
Player of the game was awarded to SAIT's Leah Serlin for 11 digs, 5 kills, and 1 block, and to Briercrest's Faith Buhler with 13 digs, 9 kills, 2 aces, and 1 block.
Both teams are back in action tomorrow during their rematch.
