Eagles come off bye with win vs. Ooks
In the first match up of the weekend for The King's University Eagles, they took on the NAIT Ooks at home. The Eagles were looking to come out strong, as they are coming off a bye week. While the Ooks, were looking to get out of their slump against the Eagles.
In the first set, the Eagles came out flying, looking rejuvenated from their bye week, as they started out with an early lead. The Ooks came right back as they fought back to tie the set up 15-15. But the Eagles and were able to squeak out a 25-23 set win.
In the second set, the tight game continued as both teams battled for points. But the Eagles were able to capitalize on a few errors by the Ooks as they took the second 25-21.
In the third set, the Ooks came out with something to prove, as they were not discouraged being down 2-0 to the top seeded TKU Eagles. The Ooks used their momentum to power themselves through the set, even when the Eagles were able to tie the set up multiple times. But the Ooks played continued to look composed under the pressure as they took the set 29-27.
In the fourth set, the Ooks continued to ride the momentum they were able to build from the previous set, as they again came out with an early lead. The Eagles, looking determined, fought their way back. Tying the game up late in the set, when it looked as though the Ooks had the set won. The Eagles took the fourth 26-24, and the game 3-1.
The Eagles will be looking for the weekend sweep as they take on the Ooks once more, tomorrow, November 23rd, at NAIT at 1pm.
