TKU Eagles lose first game of the season to the undefeated Rustlers
TKU Eagles took on the only under other undefeated team left in the North Division, the Lakeland Rustlers. Both teams looked to separate themselves from the competition with a win tonight. In the first set, as expected, was very tight. Both teams continued to exchange points throughout the set. After a couple of mistakes by the Eagles, the Rustlers held onto a lead that eventually won them the set 25-20. In the second set, again both teams began to trade points throughout the whole set. Literally the whole set! Both teams went back and forth keeping the scoring super tight. The Rustlers were able to get the two points they needed as they took the set 28-26. In the third set, the Eagles came out fast as they opened up a 6 point lead on the Rustlers, but the Rustlers began to pick at that lead and were able to tie the game up. From there on, it was the same story, as both teams went back in forth in an intense match. But with the early lead, the Eagles were able to take the third 26-24. In the fourth, the tight game continued as both teams still went on point for point. The Eagles were then able to take a hold of the set after a string of points that gave them a lead the Rustlers were not able to overcome, as they took the set 25-19. In the fifth set, the Eagles again came out fast starting the set with a quick lead. But again the Rustlers were able to claw their way back, and eventually win the fifth and deciding set 15-11
These two teams will take each other once more, tomorrow at 6 pm, at Lakeland.
