Clippers Sweep Weekend

The Briercrest Clippers Visited the Snake Pit on Saturday afternoon to complete the weekend series. Medicine Hat hoped to avenge a 3 set loss the previous night. The Cllippers had other plans as they jumped out to an early 12-5 lead with the help of 1st year Mia Harder and her exceptional serving. The Rattlers took a timeout to compose the team which seemed to help as they closed the gap to 4 right away. This didn't last long as the Clippers were back up 7 right away 16-9. The Rattlers could not seem to find their offence with Briercrest defense coming up with a few key blocks. In the end Briercrest was too much taking the first set 25-16.
Briercrest came out hard again in the second set up 3-1 early. The Rattlers could not find their groove early and struggled to find their offence. Some impressive digs and scrambles from both sides seemed to inject some energy into the game and Medicine Hat came back to life. They kept the score close the whole set tying it at 18. The Rattlers could simply not match the Clippers firepower as Clippers Mia Harder, and Samantha Zacharias blasted kills through and over blocks all game. If not for exceptional play from Shaya Suchy and great setting from Janessa Oelke the game would have been out of hand. Briercrest edged the Rattlers in a much closer contest 25-22
In the 3rd set, the Rattlers hoping to prolong the match came out hard. This produced an early lead that evaporated very quickly. The Clippers regained the lead and both teams traded side-outs and the score crawled upwards. Long Rallies were the theme of the day as both teams were digging balls that should have been points. the Clippers never relinquished their small lead and once again edged the rattlers 25-23 taking the match 3 sets to none.
