SAIT sweeps weekend with Rattlers

A Chinook brought a warm day to the opening of the second half of the season. The SAIT trojans trekked down the trans-canada to visit Medicine Hat for the second part of a home and home. The opening set saw neither team jump out to an early lead as both teams needed time to settle into the game. The Trojans opened up a small lead with a few big blocks midway through the set. The Rattlers Battled back to even at 13 from a few unforced errors from SAIT. Back and forth play was the cause of close game throughout the 1st set.  At 20 points the SAIT Trojans opened up a lead 3 late in the set. The Rattlers, Helped by 3 Aces for McKenzie Griffith tie the match at 24. The Trojans used 2 big kills to close out the first set 27-25.

The second set started with teams trading serves. The Rattlers strung together 3 serves to jump out to an early lead. A big block from the Trojans saw the momentum swing the other way. Unforced errors from Medicine Hat College, along with great setting saw the Trojans overtake the Rattlers Early Lead. The Rattlers Looked tired throughout the match which showed in their passing. The Trojans Opened up the game 12-18 before cruising to a 25-20 victory and a 2-0 lead.

The third set started off all Medicine Hat. 5 unanswered points saw a big lead open up. This was short lived as The Trojans responded with a run of their own closing the gap to 1. This forced Rattlers Coach Kim Stonehouse to call a Timeout. This seemed to calm down the team as the game became more even again. Teams trading sideouts saw the score climb slowly up the scoreboard. SAIT opened up another lead thanks to Simran Dhami serving for 3 straight expanding their lead to 5. The Trojans closed out the match winning 25-17 and 3 sets to none.
