Rattlers pushed to 5 sets
The first set started fast for the rattlers jumping out to a 4 point lead to start the first set. The Broncos battled back to close the gap and take the lead 11-10. Teams traded side outs as the score crawled upwards on the board. Neither team able to take a foothold. Medicine Hat subbed their setter out and started to find their usual rhythm. They took the lead at the end of the set and won 25-22
In the second set the Broncos jumped out to an early lead. Up 7-3 they held the lead due to a string of unforced errors and net violations from the Rattler squad. A time out seemed to settle the team for a short period as the Broncos held on to a 4 point lead. At 15 the Rattlers fought back to tie the set. Calling a timeout the Broncos regrouped and re-took the lead at 21-18. They rode the lead to take the second set 25-22 tying the match at 1
In the third set the Broncos started the set off with an ace. This woke up the rattlers as they came out and averaged 2 points per server. This put them in the lead 10-5 when the Broncos called a timeout. This did not seem to work as the Rattlers widened their lead to 8. This lead was insurmountable as the rattlers took the game 25-14.
Hoping to even the match the Broncos jumped out to an early fourth set lead. Down by 5 points the Rattlers subbed in a new middle hitter and called a timeout. Unfortunately for the Rattlers this did not work as the Broncos widened their lead to 7, 17-10. This deflated the Rattlers as they could not come back from such a large deficit. The Broncos tied the match at 2 winning 25-16.
The 5th and deciding set was needed today. After a 3-0 loss the night before, it was evident that the Broncos wanted to win this one. The Rattlers Had something else in mind as they jumped out to a 7-3 lead. This leas was too much as the Rattlers took the 5th set and the game 15-7 and 3-2.
