Trojans fall to Queens at home

CALGARY, ALTA., (Oct. 2, 2022) - The SAIT Trojans women's soccer team are undefeated no more.

Playing in a rematch of their Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) season-opening game, the Trojans found themselves on the losing end of a 2-1 decision to the visiting Red Deer Polytechnic Queens in their Sunday afternoon contest played at SAIT's Cohos Commons Field.

The two teams now share identical 6-1 records to sit tied atop the ACAC South Division standings.

After trading chances in the opening minutes, Red Deer was able to put two on the board before the half thanks to Sein Furuyama (28') and Grace Smith (39').

SAIT responded in the second half when Meaghan Wiebe scored her eighth in the season in the 68th minute of play.

Estel Quinteros (Red Deer) and Harleen Singh (SAIT) were named Players of the Game.

SAIT will try get back into the win column next weekend when they will play twice - Saturday afternoon at Lethbridge College and Sunday afternoon at home against Medicine Hat College.
