The Keyano Huskies Women's Soccer team continued their strong start to the 2022 Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) outdoor season with a 4-1 win against the visiting Northwest Polytechnic Wolves Sunday at SMS Equipment Stadium inside Shell Place in Fort McMurray, Alta. The win completed a weekend sweep for the Huskies after a 7-2 win Saturday.
Felicia Rodney scored twice in the contest for the 41st and 42nd goals of her ACAC Women's Soccer career, striking in the seventeenth and seventy-fourth minutes of play.
"Overall it's a pretty good performance. I think at times it was a little bit slower than we would want, but overall a good effort obviously," Head Coach Niels Slotboom said. "The biggest thing is we got six points out of this weekend for them and that was our goal in the end; we got there.
"We move onto next weekend."
Madison Tyson picked the right moment to join the play as the center back converted the game-winning goal in the 59th minute. Also finding the back of the net in the win was Marissa Mestre, who added a pair of assists in the victory.
Anastacia Lalonde collected the win in net for the Huskies.
Earning Player of the Game honours for the Huskies was Emma Bendera, who had an assist in the match. Shanae Connell, who scored in the 46th minute, picked up the honours for the Wolves.
The Huskies return to action next Saturday, hosting the Portage College Voyageurs in a single match. Kick-off for the women is at 12:00 p.m. at Shell Place. The Wolves return to the pitch next weekend at home, playing host The King's University Eagles.
