Edmonton, AB (March 17, 2023) -
Player of the Year presented by CCM Hockey: Hailey Carothers
The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Hailey Carothers of the Lakeland College Rustlers has been selected as the 2022-23 ACAC Women’s Hockey Player of the Year.
Hailey is a dynamic forward that led the Rustlers team and entire ACAC in scoring, posting 19 goals, 8 assists and 27 total points. The Rustlers played their inaugural season in the ACAC, finishing with a 10-10 regular season record, good enough for the number three seed overall. Carothers goal pace was eleven more than her nearest competitor, showcasing her touch around the net and ability to score whether on the power play, penalty kill or even strength. Her eight assists ranked her tied for sixth overall in that category.
“After competing against Hailey last year, we knew we had recruited a natural goal scorer, and went into the season with high expectations for her to contribute offensively. Hailey surpassed all expectations, having a second half to the year that was simply outstanding” commented head coach Morgan Mann. “Her easy going nature off the ice and competitive passion she brings on the ice is respected and appreciated by the entire Rustlers Hockey Club.Hailey is a most deserving Player of the Year.”
From Lac La Biche Alberta, Carothers is in her first year at Lakeland College, currently enrolled in the University Transfer program. Congratulations on a fantastic 2022-2023 season of play Hailey
