Lions fall late to Trojans

Lions fall late to Trojans

While the Lions continued to show improvement on the court, tonight they were unable to hold off the Trojans beat local rival SAIT.

Munroe Brothers had and Sarah Burnell both had strong games picking up a double-double in rebounds and points.  However poor ball control from the Lions and strong rebounding for the Trojans lead to SAIT being able to comeback from a first half deficit.

The Lions held right with the Trojans in the first half, spreading the ball around on offensive and forcing SAIT into difficult shots.  At the half they held a 32-26 lead thanks to a buzzer-beater 3 from half-court by Dora Tasovic.

Coming out of the half time break the Trojans played with more confidence and urgency as they were able to take the lead 49-48.   A short bench was again the demise of the Lions as early in the 4th quarter as SAIT quickly expanded their lead to 11 within 4 minutes.  A key to their offence was spreading the ball around and in the fourth quarter this was no different.  Rachel Osczevski, Richina Foggo and Skyler MacDonald combined for 19 of the Trojans 27, 4th quarter points.

Player of the Game awards were presented to Munroe Brothers thanks to her team high 16 points Rachel Osczevski as she also scored 16 points and picked up 22 rebounds.

The Lions get one more home game this semester, as next week Friday, they play the St. Mary's Lightning in the Den.
