GPRC Host Double Header Against KINGS Eagles
The Wolves welcomed The KINGS Eagles to their gym for a pair of weekend games.
The Wolves put the first 4 points on the board, before getting into foul trouble in the 1st quarter. Eagles rallied for 10 straight points before the quarter was half over. Eagles 20, Wolves 7 after 10 minutes.
Lots of scoring early in the second quarter for the Wolves, 9 points within 4 minutes and they are back in the game, within 6. Eagles answered back with 2 quick buckets and went up 8 on the Wolves. 3 minutes left, #4 for the Eagles hits a long bucket to force a time out for the Wolves. Half time ends 20:32.
The crowed was entertained by the Gymniks All Star Cheer Team at half time. Athletes ages 2-16 performed in front of a large crowd, demonstrating some impressive cheer leading moves.
Half way through the 3rd quarter both teams put 8 points on the board, making the score 28:40 for the Eagles. A 2 pointer at the buzzer and the Wolves close the gap to 10. Sophie Leslie drives the lane to score 2, and the gap closes to within 8. The 3rd will end Eagles up 8. 44:36.
The Wolves opened the scoring in the 4th with a 2 point bucket from #22 Jayden Demchuck. A back door pass to #15 Kelly Reid and the Wolves come within 5 points. Kelly Reid draws a foul with 8 minutes left in the game, forces the Eagles to a time out. Sophie Leslie drives the lane to sink the left handed layup to come within 3 points. Lanes Challis and Sophie Leslie rally for 6 more points and the Wolves pick up the victory. 56:52.
Player of the Game for the KINGS Eagles was #21 Gaddiel Kamuanya with 21 points and for the GPRC Wolves #9 Sophie Leslie with 19 points.
Both teams are back in action tomorrow at 1pm at GPRC.
