WBB | Clippers Fall to the Kodiaks
Feb. 15, 2019 – The Kodiaks are returning to the ACAC postseason.
Entering the game needing a single win to secure their berth, the Kodiaks won over the Briercrest Clippers.
Headed into the final home game weekend of the season the Kodiaks were looking for the win. However, the Clippers did not hold back anything, they fought hard for every touch of the ball.
The Clippers were more intense than ever gaining the lead in the first quarter. The Kodiaks fought hard but it wasn't enough to get ahead.
The Clippers continued to lead headed into the second quarter. Both teams fought for domination on the court. But, the Clippers held their ground and kept the lead, leaving the first half with a score of 39-33.
As the game continued, as did the tension. The Clippers had impressive plays, faking out the Kodiaks in turn, advancing their lead.
Headed into the fourth quarter the Kodiaks began to fight harder than they had all night. The crowd was cheering loud, giving the Kodiaks some confidence to catch up to the Clippers. In the last two minutes of the game the Kodiaks stole the lead after being behind the whole game. The Kodiaks won with close score of 83-80.
Adrianna Beck from the Clippers led her team with 28 points. Meanwhile, Juhee Anderson from the Kodiaks also led her team with 30 points by the end of the game.
Lethbridge improves to 13-5 and moves ahead of St. Mary's for control of third place in the ACAC south, while the Clippers drop to 8-10, eliminating them from playoff contention
Lethbridge will now close out its home schedule with an afternoon rematch against the Clippers on Saturday, with tip-off set for 1 p.m. from the Val Matteotti Gym.
