Vikings defeat Wolves in first Game of 2019

Camrose, AB - The Augustana Vikings hosted the Grand Prairie Wolves in the first game of a back-to-back weekend to kick off the new semester. The Vikings picked up the win with a final score of 95-57.

The Vikings struggled to a slow start against the Wolves and were down 4-14 with four minutes left in the first quarter. After a timeout, they came out to score 16 more points trailing 22-23 after the first ten minutes of play. The second period saw the Vikings take a slight lead of 44-41 with two early three pointers by veteran Torey Lauber. Coming out of half time the Vikings really picked up their game and outscored the young Wolves 30-7 to lead 74-48 heading into the last 10 minutes of play. Continuing on their effort into the fourth quarter the Vikings picked up the win with a final score of 95-57.

On the Grand Prairie side, Lilee Burke-Stasiuk, was awarded Player of the Game with 15 points and 3 rebounds. Augustana Vikings rookie Tobore Okome picked up the Payer of the Game Award with 13 points and 7 rebounds.
