Schultz's strong performance keeps Queens close in Calgary

Calgary, AB The Basketball Queens led after three quarters but a strong final quarter from SAIT pushed the Trojans ahead 58-50.

After the Trojans held a slight three point margin after the first quarter (17-14), the RDC Queens stormed back and outscored the SAIT Trojans 16-8 in the second to lead 30-25.

Only one basket separated the two squads in the third (17-15) with SAIT having the slight edge. The Trojans added 16 more points in the fourth and buckled down on defence, reducing the Queens' offence to five points, picking up a 58-50 home win.

Paige Schultz led the way for the Queens with 11 points. The second-year guard from Saskatoon added 2 rebounds and 1 steal.

Sandra Garcia-Bernal was strong on the boards, recording 11. The RDC Queens had 8 more rebounds than the SAIT Trojans (42-34).

Anegor Wol scored 17 points for SAIT.

On Saturday, November 10, the Queens will play the Medicine Hat College Rattlers at 3:00 p.m. at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre.
