Kievisaite Back in Form

In a low-scoring first quarter, the Keyano Huskies led 14-9 and headed into the locker room up 29-22 at the half against the visiting Lakeland College Rustlers at the at Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre's Canadian National Resources Ltd. Gymnasium.

Huskies dominated the glass 20-to-9 in the opening in 20 minutes with Moiyan Toure staying out of foul trouble (three in the first half the previous night) hauling in nine boards while adding four points.

Teammate Augusta Kievisaite 1-of-10 from the field the previous night by the half, had a much better shooting touch making 5-of-9 for a team high 11 points in the half..

Lakeland bigs 6-foot-4 Bilge Topaloglu and 6-foot-1 Brianne Hergott combined for 11 points in the half.

In a fast-paced third quarter with only four fouls whistled, Toure rebounded a three point attempt to kiss it off the glass with 1.9 seconds remaining to make it 46-35 Huskies.

It started raining threes in the final 10 minutes with the Huskies Kaleigh Sellers a perfect 4-for-4 for 12 points.

Final score Huskies 66 Rustlers 53.

Rustlers Player of the Game selection went to No. 4 Ally Pilgrim with 12 points and six boards.

Huskies Player of the Game status was shown to No. 9 Augusta Kievisaite in regaining her shooting form to score a team-high 18 points and five rebounds to go along with three assists.

Huskies Sarah MacDonald added 16 points with four Downtown Freddie Brown baskets.
