WBB | Kodiaks Fall to Lightning

Feb. 17, 2018 – Emily Wagner had 28 points to lead the St. Mary's Lightning past the Lethbridge College Kodiaks on Saturday night, securing a weekend sweep.

The Kodiaks held tight with the Lightning through the first two quarters and took a two-point lead into half, but St. Mary's exploded for 22 points in the third quarter to put the Kodiaks on their heels.

Both teams played tough defence in the paint all night, forcing their opponents into tough distance shots. St. Mary's was able to find their long-distance stroke early and often, dropping in eleven three pointers on 24 attempts.

Megan Trisevic and Montana Romeril each poured in 16 points for the Lightning, with Romeril adding 12 boards for a double-double.

Courtney Kwasney continued her strong play for Lethbridge, being named Kodiaks player of the game for a 21 point effort.

Amy Arbon, the Kodiaks lone senior playing in her final home game, hit for a double double with 18 points and 11 rebounds, while adding seven assists.

St. Mary's (12-7) will now conclude their season with a weekend home-and-home against Red Deer College. Lethbridge (6-13) will now head to Briercrest to finish with two road games against the Clippers.
