Rattlers Continue Winning Ways at Home

Lethbridge travelled east to Medicine Hat and the Snake Pit. Medicine Hat hoped to keep their game as sharp and keep their home winning streak alive. The Kodiaks rolled into town hoping to win at a tough place to play. The opening quarter started fast with not many whistles in the first part of the game. This open flowy game seemed suited to both squads. The ball seemed to want to fall for both teams as most trips up the court resulted in points. More than 40 points combined from both teams in the first quarter saw the first fly by with the Rattlers leading by 3, 23-20.

The second quarter Started much like the first with quick paced play and passing. The Rattlers game seemed to hold up at this speed slightly better than the Kodiaks. Helped by several 3 pointers from Kendall Kuntz, Medicine Hat opened up a 7 point lead midway through the frame. This was not all as Medicine Hat kept pressing and playing their aggressive fast paced game. The Kodiaks simply could not handle the Rattlers athleticism in the quarter with Medicine Hat out-running Lethbridge as well as out-shooting them. They pulled away in the quarter leading 45-31 at the break.

The Third quarter started with the Kodiaks scoring their first two trips down the court. Medicine Hat responded with an early sub in hopes to not allow the Kodiaks to gain any real momentum. This did not work as Lethbridge closed the gap to 6 points early in the quarter. By the mid-point of the quarter the Rattlers had only posted 4 points. This had let Lethbridge close the gap even further closing the gap to as few as two. With the help of their big Center, Shayna Mathison, The Kodiaks evened the score at 52. The Kodiaks translated their strong third quarter into a lead, up 4 with 2:30 left in the frame. 2 quick baskets from Morgan Muir saw the game tied back up. Another quick basket saw the Rattlers hold a 2 point lead at the break 58-56.

The Fourth quarter started a bit slower than the first 3, more fouls and close plays saw the whistle blowing early. Once the teams settled in the game started to flow again with play moving up and down the court. Neither team seemed able to gain a distinct advantage in the game. The score remained close as both teams battled to be in the lead at the end. Medicine Hat increased their lead to 7 points with 2 minutes left on the clock. This did not deter the Kodiaks from pressing however. Lethbridge continued to play hard right to the whistle battling through checks and not simply giving the game to the Rattlers. Ulatamelty Medicine Hat was too much with the Rattlers taking the game 82-75.
