2023 ACAC Men's Indoor Track Player of the Year | Leonard Chesoo

Edmonton, AB (March 24, 2023) - The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Leonard Chesoo of the Concordia University of Edmonton Thunder has been selected as the 2022-23 ACAC Male Indoor Track Runner of the Year. 

In his fourth year running for the Concordia Thunder, Leonard Chesoo’s reputation as an elite runner remains intact. After another successful Cross Country Running season claiming the ACAC men’s title, Chesoo followed up with an incredible Indoor Track season. In the first Running Room Grand Prix of the season, Chesoo managed to find the podium in the 1000m and 1500m events however not in the spot he is familiar with, second place. At Grand Prix #2, Leonard was able to take the top spot in the 1500m event and 2nd place in the 3000m event. Once it was time for the ACAC Championships, Leonard had his eyes set for gold and finished first in the 3000m, 1000m, and 1500m events. Overall, Leonard’s dominance on the track helped the Thunder Men’s Indoor Track team claim the bronze medal in the team event.


Director of Athletics & Recreation, Nathaniel MacLellan, admires the determination and focus of the fourth year Bachelor of Science student, “Leonard is now in his fourth year running in the ACAC and the quality of runners in the conference continues to improve each year. His reputation as the ACAC Champ is being challenged by some fantastic runners each year but Leonard consistently rises up to the challenge to defend his title. Leonard is very deserving of this prestigious award and it is a bitter-sweet feeling knowing that we have Leonard for only one more season! Congratulations Leonard!”
