2023 ACAC Indoor Track Coach of the Year | Simon Schaerz
Edmonton, AB (March 24, 2023) - The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is proud to announce Simon Schaerz of the Lethbridge College Kodiaks has been named the ACAC Indoor Track Coach of the Year.
Coach Schaerz is in his sixth year at the helm of the Kodiaks Cross Country and Indoor Track teams. He took over the programs from Kodiaks legendary coach, Bertil Johannsson, and has continued with the success of the program.
Simon’s men’s team was able to break countless amounts of school records and even ACAC records in relays and long-distance events. He was also able to guide his team to consistently improve times throughout grand prix tournament and into championships where the men’s team won gold.
“Coach Schaerz and his staff have put in the work to create a perennial contender,” says Todd Caughlin, Kodiaks Athletics Director. “Congratulations to Simon and the Kodiaks for the men’s banner and the competitive level of both the men and women’s programs at the collegiate level. The Kodiaks coaches put in an endless amount of work and effort and being acknowledged by their peers is an incredible honor!”
This prestigious award will be recognized at the 2023 ACAC Indoor Track Championship in Edmonton, Alberta.
