Red Deer & Concordia Claim Titles at 2022 ACAC Indoor Track Championships
EDMONTON, AB (March 27, 2022) – The 2022 ACAC Indoor Track Championships wrapped up from the Universiade Pavilion in Edmonton Saturday afternoon with the Red Deer (RDP) Kings and Concordia (CUE) Thunder taking home the conference titles.
On Sunday to start Day Two, the Women's 600m event saw SAIT's Jasmin Salmon claim the gold medal, with CUE's Emma Derbyshire in second and RDP's Halle Reid in third. CUE's Taylor Chamberlin took home the gold in the second event of the day, the Women's 1500m, where RDP's Justine Larson and CUE's Anna Peacocke completed the top three respectively. The final women's event of the championships was the Women's 4x400m event, where RDP finished first, CUE second, and Medicine Hat College grabbed third.
On the men's side, on Day Two in the Men's 600m event, CUE's Leonard Chesoo finished first, followed by CUE's Brandon Toal in second, and Augustana's Nathanael Tabert in third. In the Men's 1500m event, CUE's Leonard Chesoo claimed his second gold of the day, with RDP's Daniel Szucs grabbing silver, and CUE's Brandon Toal taking the bronze. Finally, the Men's 4x400m event closed the weekend, where the team from UofA - Augustana claimed the first place finished, the Lethbridge Kodiaks finished second, and the RDP King's came in third.
In the overall team standings, Concordia claimed the conference title in the women's event finishing with 77 points, followed by Red Deer in second with 67 points, and SAIT in third with 50 points. On the men's side, the Red Deer Kings finished in first with 78.5 points, Concordia in second with 74 points, and Lethbridge rounded out the top three with 43.5 points.
