Christopher honoured as 2017-18 ACAC Women's Indoor Track Runner of the Year

EDMONTON, AB (March 23, 2018) – The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Ricki Christopher of the SAIT Trojans has been selected as the 2017-18 ACAC Indoor Track Female Runner of the Year.

Christopher ran her way to three gold medals at the ACAC Championships March 9-10 hosted by MacEwan University. She started the event on the Friday night with wins in the 3,000 and 1,000-metre races. A day later, she took top spot in the 1,500m event as well as helping her Trojans women's 4x400m relay team capture bronze. Her efforts also led to the first-ever team medal for the Trojans women's team – a silver.

"Ricki joined us last year with a strong background in indoor track," says Wade Kolmel, SAIT Trojans Athletics and Recreation Director. "After settling for a pair of silver medals last year, she was determined to find her way to the top of the podium this year and she did it three times. We are very proud of her accomplishments."

The Herbert, Sask., product is in the final year of her Medical Radiologic Technology program at SAIT.
