Huskies return to podium with ACAC Bronze

For the first time since 2019, the Keyano Huskies Men's Volleyball team are on the podium in Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Men's Volleyball, earning a Bronze Medal Saturday night at the 2023 ACAC Men's Volleyball Championship Presented by Elite Promotional Marketing.

The Huskies reached the podium via a straight-sets victory (28-26, 25-13, 25-14) against the NAIT Ooks, making them the lone team from the ACAC North Division to land on the podium with the all-South Division final between the Briercrest Clippers and Red Deer Polytechnic Kings still on tap.

"It's not the colour that we necessarily wanted, but obviously didn't have enough last night night against Red Deer," Huskies Head Coach Keegan Kuhr said. "To bounce back and play the way that we played tonight, that first set was close but then after that we just kind of controlled.

"It's a good feeling."

Radek Brzozowski led his side with 10 kills with Athus Silva collecting seven and the duo of Trey Weinmeier and Cameron Visscher each adding five. Nikola Sreckovic added 22 assists in setting duties for the Huskies.

Carter Hills and Daniel Ward tied for the team lead with seven kills each for the Ooks. Karter Godin added 20 assists in the setter position for the visiting Ooks. Jared Krogen had seven digs to lead all players on the court.

The Players of the Game were Athus Silva of the Huskies and Jared Krogen of the Ooks.

Following the match, Carter Hills from the Ooks was named to the All-Tournament Team. From the Huskies, Nikola Sreckovic and Radek Brzozowski earned All-Tournament Team honours.
