2023 ACAC Men's Volleyball Rookies of the Year

North Rookie of the Year presented by Volleyball Alberta: Rhees Moss
The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Rhees Moss of the Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder has been selected as the 2022-23 ACAC Men’s Volleyball North Division Rookie of the Year.
Playing in 18 games for the Thunder, Moss had a truly remarkable season as he helped the Thunder achieve their second playoff berth in program history. Moss recorded an incredible 440 assists in his first season, good enough to finish in the top five in the ACAC’s North Division and top 10 in the entire conference. Moss also finished in the top five in the ACAC in assists per set, averaging 7.21.
“Rhees has had an extraordinary first season for the Thunder both on and off the court. He has brought a ton of passion, energy and skill since he’s joined the program and it shows in the men’s volleyball team heading back to the playoffs. This is an incredible honour for Rhees to achieve in his first season, and I look forward to seeing him develop further as a student-athlete. The future is bright! Congratulations, Rhees!”
Moss is in the first year of his Bachelor of Science degree and calls St. Albert, Alberta home.
This prestigious award will be recognized at the 2023 ACAC Men’s Volleyball Championship hosted by Keyano College in Fort McMurray, AB.
South Rookie of the Year presented by Volleyball Alberta: Gavin Moes
The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Gavin Moes of the Lethbridge College Kodiaks has been selected as the 2022-23 ACAC Men’s Volleyball South Division Rookie of the year.
Second only to his older brother Nolan on the Kodiaks, Gavin has earned 2.34 kills/set, .42 blocks /set and 1.10 digs/set. He was also selected as the Kodiaks Athlete of the Week on one occasion and has been in the running almost every week.
“Kodiak Men’s Volleyball is so proud of Gavin Moes and his accomplishments this season,” says Kodiaks head coach Greg Gibos. “Gavin has developed in to one of the premier outside attackers in the game as his serve receive and attacking options continue to develop at a rapid rate due to his hard work and diligence this season.”
“What an amazing accomplishment for Gavin in his first year of collegiate competition,” says Kodiaks Athletics manager Todd Caughlin. “Gavin has come to the Kodiaks family and is an all-around student athlete!”
Moes is in his first year of General Studies at Lethbridge College and is from Barrhead. AB.
