Rustlers defeat Thunder in straight sets

Lakeland began the stretch run of the season on solid ground, earning another victory against a familiar foe.

The Rustlers hosted the Concorida Thunder for the first of a pair of matches, which will take the two teams to Edmonton on Saturday. Concordia came into the match locked into the 6th seed in the North Division, while the Rustlers still have some uncertainty of where they will finish the season.

In the first set, the home side nearly blew an early lead, but regained the momentum late to win 25-21. In the second, the Rustlers put the Thunder under a lot of service pressure, resulting in many errors from the visitors 25-13. Lakeland held the momentum in the third winning 25-18.

Aiden Maier was the home side's POG, with a match high 11 points, while Van Tooke earned the nod for Concordia.

Lakeland improves to 9-7, remaining a match ahead of NWP for fourth in the North.
