Kodiaks take down Broncos in Olds home opener

The Lethbridge College Kodiaks made another early season statement on Friday, seizing early momentum and not letting go in knocking off the Olds College Broncos in straight sets (25-17, 25-22, 25-18) at the Ralph Klein Centre in the home opener for the Broncos.

The Kodiaks (2-0) were led by Nolan Moes and his nine kills, two digs and one stuff block, while Nash Shipton turned in a complete performance for Lethbridge Colege with four assists and four digs.

For the Broncos (0-1), Aidyn Phillips paced the attack with nine kills, while Matheus Franca contributed five kills and Jesse Stoddart turned in a solid defensive outing with eight digs.

Malcolm Fisher took home Player of the Game honours for the Kodiaks, while Phillips was the Olds College recipient.

The Kodiaks and Broncos will square off once again at Ralph Klein Centre on Saturday, with first serve scheduled for 3 p.m.
