Kings Defeat Clippers 3-1 in Exciting Season Opener
The stands of The Hangar were packed with fans for the opening game of the 2022-23 ACAC season. The Briercrest Clippers hosted as they faced off against the Red Deer Kings. The two teams played four sets, each as full of high energy and strong hits as the last. The first two sets were taken by the Red Deer Kings who won the sets with matching scores of 21-25.
The Clippers were not ready to go down without a fight. They entered the third set ready to do what it would take to win the set, and fight they did. After a nail-bitingly close set, the Clippers took the third set 25-23. As they entered the fourth set the Kings were visibly shaken up by the Clippers' comeback but quickly found their stride again. While possession of the set bounced back and forth for the majority of the set in it was the Kings who took the final victory ending the set with a score of 22-25 and winning the game 3-1.
The ACAC Players of the game were RDP power Brett Lower and Briercrest middle Tyson Nachtigall. When asked at the end of the game, Clipper player of the game Tyson Nachtigall said it was "great to be back in the hangar" and that he was "excited for the season ahead with this [years] group." The Clippers will face off again at the Red Deer Kings tomorrow at 3 PM.
