Thunder fall to Rustlers in 5 sets

EDMONTON AB – The Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder were looking to redeem themselves tonight against the visiting Lakeland Rustlers.

The Thunder opened up the game with a good run and took the first set 25-22, but the Rustlers had an answer in the second set with back and forth action that tied the series up at 1. The Thunder broke away and went up by 1 in the 3rd set with a huge 25-22 win giving them a path to the finish line. The Rustlers came back with vengeance and took the 4th set 25-18 to push it to extra sets. The Rustlers took advantage of a missed serve and finished the game 15-13 and walked away with the W.

The Rustlers are currently sitting in the 4th place, with some distance between them and the 5th place Kings University, with a point differential of 10 points. The Thunder are battling for a playoff spot and need to win the next couple weeks to keep their hopes alive. The Big Kahuna Player of the Game for the visiting Rustlers is #6 Tyler Williamson and for the Thunder was #1 Marc Langevin. Next weekend the Rustlers will be facing off against first place Keyano Huskies and the Thunder will be taking on the Kings University, and they are given the opportunity to jump over the King's in the standings with a set of wins.
