Ooks Top Vikings in Five

EDMONTON, ALTA. - The NAIT Ooks men's volleyball team defeated the Augustana Vikings 3-2 on Friday night in the NAIT gymnasium.

The Ooks came out strong winning the first set 25-17 to take an early 1-0 lead. The Vikings would respond taking the next set 25-19 to tie the match. Augustana carried that momentum forward winning the third set 25-23 to take a 2-1 lead. NAIT rebounded with a 25-20 fourth set, sending the match to a fifth and final set. It was the NAIT Ooks who would prove to be the better team as they took the set 15-6, claiming the match 3-2.

Players of the game for NAIT was Devon Klein. Duncan McDonald took home the honours for the Vikings.

Team Leaders:

• Devon Klein led the Ooks with 18 kills and 21 points.
• Duncan McDonald led the Vikings with 19 kills and 19 points.
• Mitch Lewington supported the Ooks with 50 assists. 
• Logan Pasishnik supported the Vikings with 41 assists.
• Mitch Lewington had 10 digs for the Ooks
• Thomas Zimmerman had 12 digs for the Vikings

The Big Picture:

• The NAIT Ooks are now 6-1 and sit T-2nd in the ACAC North Division with the Vikings (6-3), with two games in hand.

• The two teams will now rematch tomorrow at 8:00 pm in Camrose.
