Vikings win in five sets over visiting Wolves

Camrose, AB - Despite the steady snow all day, the Augustana Men's Volleyball team had lots of support as they took on the visiting Grand Prairie Wolves. The Vikings came out with a victory after five hard fought sets.

The first set was a good indicator of what was to come as both teams battled it out with the Vikings eventually pulling just slightly ahead taking a 27-25 win for the set. Grand Prairie picked up their game in the second set taking Augustana 25-22. They continued this momentum into the third winning 25-21. The Vikings found their ground again, and with the support of their fans won the fourth set 25-16 after gaining an early lead. With both teams looking to take the win for the night, intensity was high. Augustana managed to get a slight edge and take the win, with a fifth set score of 15-12.

Grand Prairie Wolves first year setter, Sean van Oosterwijck, was awarded Player of the Game with 2 blocks, 5 service aces, 8 digs and 32 assists. On the Augustana side the Player of the Game Award went to Jesse Weber, second year biology student, with 4 digs and 17 kills.

These teams face each other again on November 3rd to complete their back-to-back weekend.
