Trojans Sweep the Night in Medicine Hat

The Chinook rolling through southern Alberta brought heat outside as well as in the Gym. Both teams Were Raring and ready to go. Following a moment of Silence for fellow ACAC Athletes Zara and Bridget Chambers, the teams took to the court to continue their battle from the night previous. Both teams traded side outs for the first 18 points of the game tying it at 9. Nobody could break away as the defense from both teams was spectacular. Offence took over as both teams were killing the ball well. Vitor Pereira had an Ace nearing the end of the set opening up a small window for the Rattlers. Down by 3, the Trojans Called timeout in an effort to switch momentum. This seemed to work with a side out and ace immediately following the timeout forcing Medicine Hat to call timeout as well. The set was again Tied Late. A Push From SAIT ended the Set with a 25-23 win.

The Second Set started with a Party Ball Kill from Rattler Joao Pedro Friere answered with a side out from the Trojans. Defense was again the theme to the early part of the set with both teams scoring off of blocks and digging up balls. SAIT seemed to find their offence sooner than the Rattlers with a few Big Kills. Medicine Hat never let the set get too far out of reach always keeping the score close. SAIT never took their foot off the gas trying to put the game out of reach early. Unfortunately for the Trojans, Medicine Hat Charged back levelling the score at 13. The Trojan hitters were using the Rattler Blocks all game, wiping and gaining points from blocking errors. SAIT Pulled out to a late 22-20 lead in the set making a Rattler Comeback tough. SAIT closed out the set on a Rattler Error to take the second by the same score as the First.

The Rattlers struggled again on offence early in the third set letting the Trojans out to an early 5-1 lead. Hits into the net and sets away from hitters had the Rattlers Struggling to put points up early. A Brodie Dolter Block temporarily had the Rattlers looking like they might come back in the set. A service Run from Alfred Dalevik had the game slightly more manageable for Medicine Hat. The Trojans still held the lead mid set, up by 4, 12-16. A late push From The Rattlers saw them come back to tie the Match at 24. Trading side outs, SAIT held the advantage only needing to hold serve once for the win. This happened at 29 points with the Trojans emerging victorious 3 sets to none.
