Critical tie between Rustlers, Huskies

Following Saturday's blowout, the second game between the Lakeland Rustlers and Keyano Huskies men's soccer teams was bound to be a tighter affair.

After trading early chances, the Huskies applied steady pressure in the first half, capitalizing with a goal from William Ly. As the half wound down, a pass from Ethan Stroud sprung Sam Dosumu, who executed the breakway shot perfectly off the crossbar and down.

In the second, both defences tightened up, keeping the scoring chances largely to the outside. Both sides had their moments, but neither were able to take advantage of plays near the goal line.

Following the tie, Kevin Wagner acknowledged his team's performance over the weekend, taking four of a possible six points.

"We've proven we can [compete with anybody] and we've received points from all teams in our [division]. We keep getting better and are working to peak by the end of the season."

Juan Estrada got the POG nod for the home squad, while Louis Goldbrunner earned the nod for the visitors. Both teams will play three more games, with the Huskies leading by a single point for second place in the Division.
