Lions Win First Ever ACAC Outdoor Soccer Game

Lions Win First Ever ACAC Outdoor Soccer Game

While it was a cold and blustery night in Calgary, it did not keep tensions for getting hot!  A heated battle took place as the Ambrose Lions defeated the Rattlers, achieving their first win of the season.   The Lions stuck quickly as a Matthew Wideman scored in the 32nd minute taking the Lions into the half with a 1 to 0 lead.  Immediately following the goal however, Lions athletes, Austin Carter and Matias Hains both picked up yellow cards in the 35th minute.  Lucas Reimer and Colton Pacheo also picked up yellow cards this evening.  In the 2nd half, the Lions scored quickly again!  Matthew Wideman netted his 2nd of the game in the 48th minute.  Not long after tensions flared again seeing Matais Hains pick up his 2nd yellow card in the 56th minute leading to his ejection.  The Lions managed to hold the Rattlers at bay even playing a man short in the final half hour.  The Lions had to wait a few extra minutes before they were able to celebrate their first ever ACAC Outdoor Soccer victory, as in the first half, a collision between a Lions and a Rattler led to a net breaking.  Thankfully no one was hurt in the incident.  Up next the Lions take on the Lethbridge Kodiaks tomorrow afternoon.
