Trojans Win At The Snake Pit
A tightly checked and contested first half saw both teams playing a physical game. With a few hard tackles, the referee tried to calm down the game by issuing a yellow card to SAIT. This seemed to have an opposite effect as both teams were contesting balls and challenging hard. The referee issued another yellow, this time to a Rattler defender.
SAIT struck first in the 35th minute, with a corner headed home by Trojan Midfielder Romel Ayerdis. The last 10 minutes of the half saw both teams trying to break through the others defense, while being turned aside.
The second half started with a quick goal from Dean Northover to expand the Trojans lead to 2. A few hard challenges saw the rattlers receive another few yellow cards and seemed to spark the team. Medicine Hat came back down the pitch with 2 scoring chances which both narrowly missed.
SAIT Trojan Nick Moore was sent off in the 63rd minute from his second yellow, leaving his team with ten men. The Rattlers took advantage of this right away and applied pressure deep in the Trojans end. This press opened up space at the back and the Trojans Capitalized on a fast break from center. Dean Northover potted his second of the game.
Medicine Hat Midfielder Rodrigo Tavares received his second yellow of the day resulting in his ejection. This saw the game open up a little with more space and the ball moving up and down the field quickly.
Injury time in the second half was busy. It saw a yellow card for both teams and Medicine Hat's only goal of the game. Mike Gurski struck in the 93rd minute to break the Trojans shutout. Ending the game with a 3-1 victory for SAIT.
