Matthew Oosterhuis Honoured as 2015-16 ACAC Men’s North Soccer Coach of the Year

The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference is pleased to announce that Matthew Oosterhuis has been selected as the Men's North Soccer Coach of the Year for the 2015-16 season.

Matthew Oosterhuis stepped into The King's University Men's Soccer Head Coach position in 2013. As an alumnus of King's, having graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 2001, Matt was a member of the Eagles' Soccer team during its' early stages prior to entering the ACAC. Therefore, helping to build the program at King's is very important to Matt, and he has spent the last few years working extremely hard to recruit players and make King's known in the soccer community. Entering the 2015-16 ACAC soccer season, Matt and his coaching staff were confident that they could be contenders for provincials; however, with the majority of the Eagles' squad being first year players they also knew that it would take time to come together as a team. As both an Educator and a Coach, Matt understands the value of creating an atmosphere that is both intense and encouraging, and as a result he has led the team to a number of King's records: Most goals in a season, Best season record, and earning a provincial berth for the first time in the program's history. Oosterhuis has taken his team from a record of 1-9-0 in 2014-15 to a 5-4-1 record this season. King's University is very proud to have Matt as a member of their Athletics Staff, and celebrate with him in this accomplishment of being chosen as the Men's Soccer North Division Coach of the Year!
