Broncos win high-scoring duel with Ooks

The Olds College Broncos and NAIT Ooks each began their tournament at the 2023 Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Men's Futsal Championship with a bang Friday, combining for 13 goals in a 7-6 Broncos victory at the Syncrude Sport and Wellness Centre in Fort McMurray, Alta. 

Tied 2-2 through a relatively tame first half, the floodgates opened in the second half with the Broncos scoring five to the Ooks four. 

Valentin Kirchner and Diego Forno notched goals for the Broncos to open the game while Gabriel Queiroz and Rodane Cato scored for the Ooks. 

In the second half, Zayne Boughazale struck twice for the Broncos, who were also aided by single strikes from Nahshon Ranger-Reece and Aminja Abbe. Forno added his second tally of the game as well. 

Countering for the home side Ooks, Cristian Lima scored twice while Cato added his second of the match. Peter Jones also added to the Ooks' score total with his first of the tournament. 

Abbe of the Broncos and Lima of the Ooks earned Player of the Game honours for their respective sides.
